1. We use PDF format because your article will be formatted for viewing on the web with pictures and links intact. Feel free to use whatever program you have that saves to PDF format. If you don't have a program that can save to PDF there are several free options, one being the alternative to Microsoft Office, OpenOffice. Be advised OpenOffice is a large download because you are getting a complete office suite.
2. Write and save your article in whatever software you have that saves in PDF format.
